Description & what's in the box
A compact dash cam that records the road ahead in 2K (2560 × 1440), with a bright f/1.55 lens for clearer footage when the light drops.
There's no screen: you aim it, watch and download your clips with the free 70mai app over Wi-Fi, and simple voice commands in English let you lock a clip or take a photo without taking your hands off the wheel.
If there's a collision or hard braking, the G-sensor saves the clip, including the moments before it, in a separate folder that can't be recorded over.
In the box
- Nova 2K dash cam
- USB car charger
- 3.5 m USB-C power cable
- Heat-resistant adhesive pad
- Electrostatic window stickers
- Trim tool to hide the cable
- User manual
Not included: a microSD card. Use a Class 10 card of 16 to 256 GB, ideally a high-endurance one made for constant recording.

01 · 2K + f/1.55
More detail, even when the light drops.
The Nova records the road in 2K (2560 × 1440) at 30 fps, with a 143° view. Its f/1.55 aperture lets in more light than an f/2.0 lens, and WDR balances bright skies and dark shadows, so plates and road signs hold up at dusk and at night.
To be straight with you: there's no screen. You aim it and watch your clips in the 70mai app.
- 2560 × 1440 at 30 fps
- f/1.55 lens for low light
- Sound recorded with the video
02 · Emergency buffer
It keeps the seconds before the bang.
When the G-sensor detects a collision or hard braking, the Nova doesn't just lock the current clip. It also keeps the footage from before it: up to 3 minutes before, depending on your loop length, plus 30 seconds after.
Those clips go into a separate "Emergency video" folder, so loop recording can't overwrite them. G-sensor sensitivity has 5 levels.
- Before and after the event in one clip
- Separate folder, never overwritten

03 · Voice + app
Hands on the wheel, clips on your phone.
Say the word to lock a video or take a photo while you drive, in English. Later, connect to the camera's Wi-Fi with the free 70mai app to watch, download and share your footage.
- Voice commands in English
- No cloud, no subscription: clips go straight to your phone
FAQ
Questions drivers ask before buying
Can't find your answer? Email support@dashproof.co.uk. A person replies within 24 working hours.
Does it have a screen?
No. You see the live view, aim the camera and replay clips on your phone with the free 70mai app, over the camera's own Wi-Fi.
Does it have a rear camera?
No, it's a single camera. Its lens rotates, so you can point it at the road ahead (the usual choice), at the cabin or out of the rear window, but it records one view at a time.
Will I be able to read number plates?
The camera records in 2K (2560 × 1440), more detail than Full HD, so in good conditions plates of the cars around you are readable. Distance, speed, heavy rain and direct glare all reduce detail, so no dash cam can promise every plate.
What does the emergency buffer do?
When the G-sensor detects a collision or hard braking, the camera saves the footage from before the event (up to 3 minutes, depending on your loop length setting: 1 minute by default, adjustable to 2 or 3) plus 30 seconds after it, in an "Emergency video" folder that loop recording can't overwrite.
How does voice control work?
Say a command to take a photo, lock the current video, turn audio recording on or off, or turn the Wi-Fi hotspot on or off. Commands work in English and Mandarin only.
Is a memory card included?
No. You need a Class 10 microSD card of 16 to 256 GB. Choose a high-endurance card made for constant recording: cheap, slow cards are the most common cause of dash cam problems.
Does it record when I'm parked?
Only with a 70mai hardwire kit (UP03 or UP06) or the 70mai OBD-II hardwire kit, sold separately and not available in our shop. With one fitted, it offers time-lapse recording and collision detection while parked.
Why does my phone lose internet when I use the app?
Your phone connects to the camera's own Wi-Fi to download clips, so it can't use that connection for the internet at the same time. Disconnect once your clips are saved.
Is a dash cam legal in the UK?
Yes. It must not block your view of the road, so fit it behind the rear-view mirror, and don't handle it while driving.
Will my insurer and the police accept the footage?
Footage can help support your insurance claim or a police report. Each insurer and police force decides how they use it.
