Description & what's in the box
A Full HD dash cam with a 4" touch screen, so you can set it up, aim it and replay clips with a tap.
Want the road behind you too? Choose Front + Rear: a rear camera on a 6 m cable records at the same time, and if it's wired to your reversing light, the screen switches to the rear view with guide lines when you reverse.
Both kits come with a 32 GB memory card. If something happens, the G-sensor locks the clip so it can't be recorded over.
In the box
- Scout dash cam
- Suction mount

Will it fit my car?
- Yes for cars, SUVs and most vans with a 12V socket.
- 12V only: a 24V supply will damage it. For lorries and some large vans, add a 24V to 12V converter.
- It fixes to the windscreen with a suction mount, behind your rear-view mirror. With the Front + Rear option, a 6 m cable runs to the back window.
- Use only the rear camera sold with it: the maker only guarantees its own rear camera works with this dash cam.

01 · Touch screen
Set it up with a tap.
The Scout has a 4" IPS touch screen. Aim the camera when you fit it, change settings and replay a clip at the roadside by tapping the screen, like a phone.
To be straight with you: there's no Wi-Fi app, so clips stay on the camera's memory card.
- 4" IPS touch screen
- Replay clips straight on the camera
- USB card reader included to copy clips to a computer
02 · Rear camera (option)
Records behind you, helps you reverse.
Choose Front + Rear and a rear camera on a 6 m cable records at the same time as the front. Wired to your reversing light, it also switches the screen to the rear view with guide lines when you select reverse.
To be straight with you: the rear camera records in 480p. It shows what happened behind you, but not fine detail like number plates.
- Front and rear record together
- Guide lines on screen when reversing

03 · Full HD + G-sensor
Clear footage, kept safe.
The front camera records 1080p at 30 fps through a 6-glass lens with a 170° view, wide enough to take in the lanes either side. Wide dynamic range (WDR) helps keep detail in bright and dark areas, at night too.
If there's a collision, the G-sensor locks the clip so loop recording can't overwrite it.
- 1080p at 30 fps, 170° view
- Impact clips locked automatically
- Loop recording replaces the oldest footage
FAQ
Questions drivers ask before buying
Can't find your answer? Email support@dashproof.co.uk. A person replies within 24 working hours.
Does it have a rear camera?
Only with the Front + Rear option. You then get a 480p rear camera on a 6 m cable, which records at the same time as the front. The Front version films the road ahead only.
How does the reversing view work?
The rear camera's red wire connects to your reversing light's positive feed. When you select reverse, the screen switches to the rear camera with guide lines. Wiring varies between cars, so if you're unsure, have an auto electrician do it.
Will I be able to read number plates?
The front camera records in Full HD 1080p. It clearly shows what happened, and plates of cars close to you are usually readable in good light. Distance, speed, rain and glare all reduce detail, so no dash cam can promise every plate. The optional rear camera records in 480p: it shows what happened behind you, not fine detail like plates.
Is a memory card included?
Yes, both kits come with a 32 GB microSD card. The camera takes Class 10 cards of 8 to 64 GB. If you ever replace it, choose a high-endurance card made for constant recording.
Can I send clips to my phone?
No, the Scout has no Wi-Fi. Replay clips on the touch screen, or use the USB card reader in the box to copy them to a computer.
Does it record when I'm parked?
Only with a hardwire kit (not included), which keeps it powered when the engine is off. It then starts recording when it detects an impact. Its built-in battery is too small to run it on its own.
Will it fit my car?
Yes if your vehicle has a 12V socket: cars, SUVs and most vans. Don't connect it to a 24V supply (lorries, some large vans): it will damage the camera unless you add a 24V to 12V converter.
Is a dash cam legal in the UK?
Yes. It must not block your view of the road, so fit it behind the rear-view mirror, and don't handle it while driving.
Will my insurer and the police accept the footage?
Footage can help support your insurance claim or a police report. Each insurer and police force decides how they use it.
