Description & what's in the box

Small enough to disappear behind your mirror, sharp enough to read the plate in front. The Mini 4K records the road ahead in real 4K through a Sony IMX415 sensor, every time you drive.

Want the road behind you too? Choose the rear camera option: a 1080p night-vision rear camera on a 6 m cable, recording at the same time as the front.

If something happens, the G-sensor locks the clip so it can't be recorded over. Replay it on your phone over Wi-Fi with the free app, save it and send it to your insurer or the police.

In the box

  • Mini 4K dash cam with adhesive mount
  • 12V car charger
  • Electrostatic window sticker

  • With the rear camera option: 1080p rear camera with 6 m cable

Not included: a microSD card. Use a Class 10 card of 16 to 128 GB, ideally a high-endurance one made for constant recording.

Real 4K, in a small package.

01 · Front camera

Real 4K, in a small package.

The Mini records real 4K (3840 × 2160) at 25 fps through a Sony IMX415 sensor and a bright f/1.6 lens, with a 170° view of the road ahead.

On its own, it films the road in front. Add the rear camera option if you want the road behind you too.

  • 4K at 25 fps through a Sony IMX415 sensor
  • 170° wide angle covers junctions and side lanes
  • Sound recorded with the video

02 · Screen + app

Clips on your phone, ready to send.

The Mini has a built-in screen on the back. Connect to the camera's Wi-Fi with the free app to watch the live view and save footage to your phone.

  • No cloud, no subscription: clips go straight to your phone
  • Saved as video files you can copy to a computer from the memory card

03 · Rear camera (option)

Add the road behind you.

Choose the rear camera option and a second camera films out of your back window in 1080p, at the same time as the front. It's built for low light, so it catches the shunts, tailgaters and car park bumps that happen behind you.

To be straight with you: the rear camera is Full HD, not 4K. It clearly shows what happened, but plates further back are harder to read than at the front.

  • 1080p at 25 fps, 140° view behind
  • Front and rear record together, every journey
  • 6 m cable to reach the back window

Installation

Plug in up front, add a rear camera if you like.

Supplied Type-C cable to the 12V socket (not a phone cable), via Connection 1 or 2, either works.

FAQ

Questions drivers ask before buying

Can't find your answer? Email support@dashproof.co.uk. A person replies within 24 working hours.

Does it have a rear camera?

Yes, if you choose the rear camera option. You get a 1080p night-vision rear camera on a 6 m cable, which records at the same time as the front. Use only this rear camera with the Mini: the maker only guarantees its own rear camera works with it.

Where does the rear camera go?

With the rear camera option, inside the car at the top of the back window. Its 6 m cable runs along the headliner to the front.

Will I really be able to read number plates?

That's what the 4K front camera is for. In good conditions, plates of the cars around you are readable. Like any camera, distance, speed, heavy rain and direct glare all reduce detail, so no dash cam can promise every plate in every situation. The optional rear camera records in 1080p, so it shows less detail than the front.

Does it have GPS?

No, GPS isn't included, so the footage doesn't record your speed or location.

Is a memory card included?

No. You need a Class 10 microSD card of 16 to 128 GB. Choose a high-endurance card made for constant recording: cheap, slow cards are the most common cause of dash cam problems.

Does it record when I'm parked?

Only with a hardwire kit (not included), which keeps it powered when the engine is off. Pick one with a low-voltage cut-off so it can't drain your battery.

Will it fit my car?

Yes if your vehicle has a 12V socket: cars, SUVs and most vans. Don't connect it to a 24V supply (lorries, some large vans): it will damage the camera unless you add a 24V to 12V converter.

Why does my phone lose internet when I use the app?

Your phone connects to the camera's own Wi-Fi to download clips, so it can't use that connection for the internet at the same time. Disconnect once your clips are saved.

Is a dash cam legal in the UK?

Yes. It must not block your view of the road, so fit it behind the rear-view mirror, and don't handle it while driving.

Will my insurer and the police accept the footage?

Footage can help support your insurance claim or a police report. Each insurer and police force decides how they use it.
